PINEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man is facing charges after police say he and another man were caught on camera stealing multiple packs of steaks from a local grocery store.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Wyoming County, officers responded to Goodson’s Supermarket in Pineville after employees reported a shoplifting incident involving two men.
A store worker told the responding officer that the pair entered the store together and took a total of eight packs of steaks from the meat cooler.
Deputies reviewed surveillance footage, which reportedly showed the two men — later identified as 49-year-old Bobby Joe Trent and another suspect — walking to the meat aisle and each removing four packs of steaks.
The video then shows both men moving to another aisle, where they allegedly concealed the steaks by placing the packages down the front of their pants before leaving the store without paying.
A store employee told investigators that the suspects arrived in a vehicle with two other men still inside.
Deputies requested a registration check on the vehicle through the Wyoming County 911 Center.
Corporal T. Cook with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Pineville Police Department in the investigation and was able to identify Trent and the second suspect based on prior law enforcement knowledge.
Trent has been charged with shoplifting and conspiracy. He remains at Southern Regional Jail on a $3,000 cash-only bond.
Information on the second suspect is unknown at this time.
