WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man was arrested Sunday following an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Task Force into allegations that he solicited a minor for sexual activity.
According to the sheriff’s office, Sgt. Tyler Sizemore became aware of a social media post at approximately 8:30 a.m. on June 7 that allegedly showed an adult male soliciting a 14-year-old boy for sexual activities.
Investigators launched an inquiry and obtained a search warrant for the residence of David “Porky” Acord in an effort to locate and secure evidence from a mobile phone. Authorities also secured two felony arrest warrants as part of the investigation.
Members of the Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team were notified after the warrants were obtained.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., law enforcement officers executed search warrants at Acord’s residence in the Clear Fork area of Wyoming County.
During the search, investigators recovered a cellphone that authorities said was actively being used by Acord.
Acord was taken into custody without incident and charged with soliciting a minor and traveling to engage in sexual acts, distributing obscene material to a minor, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Magistrate court records show Acord’s bond was set at $125,000 cash only.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office said all recovered digital evidence will be processed by the agency’s Digital Forensics Unit as the investigation continues.
Police say Acord is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
