WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Matheny man has been sentenced to prison following a guilty plea on felony drug and theft charges in Wyoming County.
According to Derek Laxton, Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney, Troy Calloway Morgan, 39, of Matheny, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Jan. 14, to possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and petit larceny.
Following his plea, Morgan was sentenced to a term of one to 15 years in prison. He was immediately remanded to begin serving his sentence.
The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, Sgt. Tyler Sizemore and Sgt. Logan Cook executed a search warrant in the Lynco area as part of an ongoing probe into drug activity in the region.
Authorities said Morgan was found at the scene, and methamphetamine packaged in an individually sealed baggie was recovered from his person.
Prosecutors also said that earlier in the year, Morgan stole a table saw from an individual in East Pineville. The stolen property was later recovered by Sgt. Sizemore and returned to its owner.
The case concluded with Morgan’s sentencing and immediate transfer to prison custody.
