OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The small community of Oceana in Wyoming County is grieving the sudden loss of Sue Ellen and her young son, Easton, following a tragic house fire that has left friends and family in shock.
Neighbors describe Sue Ellen as a devoted mother who never missed one of her children’s games or school events.
Her son, Easton, was remembered as an energetic, outgoing boy who seemed to know everyone in town.
Like his older brother, Ashton, Easton was passionate about sports — he played youth basketball, wearing #33, and was also active in the Oceana Little League.
At a recent community event, Easton even tried his hand in the boxing ring, leaving a lasting impression on those who watched him spar.
Those who knew the family recall small but meaningful memories — late-night Taco Bell runs, a candy bar promised and delivered, Easton’s perfectly styled Mohawk, and his signature grin that brightened every room.
In the wake of the tragedy, the community has come together to support the family.
Local groups arranged for the care of Sue Ellen and Easton’s beloved animals, with their goats and ducks now finding a permanent home at the Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary.
Coaches, parents, and teammates say Easton’s spirit and determination will never be forgotten.
