WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Wyoming County Schools Superintendent John Henry announced his resignation Monday morning during a meeting of the Wyoming County Board of Education.
Henry, who became superintendent on July 1, 2024, announced that his resignation will take effect at the end of the day on Oct. 1, 2026. Before becoming superintendent, Henry served as assistant superintendent of support services for the school system.
During Monday’s meeting, Henry thanked board members, school employees and his family for their support and said he is leaving to pursue an opportunity in the private sector.
“Members, I want to thank the Wyoming County Board of Education for supporting me over the years. Wyoming County is staffed with the best folks that truly love children. I’m grateful for the time that I’ve been involved in Wyoming County schools,” Henry said.
“This system made and molded me into who I am today. I am pursuing an opportunity that I’m passionate about in the private sector.
My goal in life is to serve others in any capacity that God leads me to do so. I want to thank my family for their love and support. They’re the absolutely best.”
I offer my resignation that will be effective at the end of the day on October 1st, 2026. Thank you for the relationships and the memories that are made in Wyoming County Schools,” Henry concluded.
Henry was selected by the Wyoming County Board of Education in January 2024 to succeed former Superintendent Deirdre Cline, who retired after serving eight years as superintendent.
His resignation will become effective Thursday, Oct. 1.
