The victim told authorities that Teresa Lynn Toler, whom he described as someone he had been seeing and “trying to make a life with,” took his vehicle without permission earlier that morning.
The complaint states that around 9 a.m., Toler woke up at the residence, told another individual in the home to “be real quiet,” and then left in the victim’s vehicle.
When the victim tried to contact her to get the vehicle back, Toler allegedly denied taking it.
On Aug. 8, the victim was contacted by someone who reported seeing the vehicle parked at a game room across from McDonald’s in Oceana.
The vehicle was recovered with the keys inside, but several items were missing, including a backpack, clothing, a car jack, various tools, a Samsung cell phone, and about $400 in cash.
Deputies say the total value of the vehicle and missing property is estimated at $3,000.
Investigators believe the circumstances indicate an intent to permanently deprive the victim of his property.
Toler has been charged in connection with the theft.
She is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond.
