WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Students at Wyoming East High School are being dismissed early Monday following what school officials are describing as a “larger health outbreak” than initially reported.
The Wyoming County Board of Education announced late Monday morning that students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. “out of an abundance of caution.”
Additionally, students will not return to school and all extracurricular activities will cease until the school system receives full clearance from the Wyoming County Health Department and ServPro.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority,” the school system said.
As of late Monday morning, the school system had not released additional information regarding the type of health outbreak, how many students or staff members may be affected, or how long the closure could last.
Additional details are being awaited from school and health officials. The Wyoming County Board of Education said further information will be released as it becomes available.
