BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Members of the Raleigh County Commission came together on Tuesday to participate in the commission’s Regular Session meeting at which several youth football grants were approved.
The agenda item was addressed just over eight minutes into Tuesday’s session and would see $500 awarded to each the following youth football programs in Raleigh County: Shady Spring Youth Football, Raleigh West Football, Southwest Football, WV Mountaineer Youth Football.
“This really just supports youth activities,” said Raleigh County Administrator, Jay Quesenberry of the agenda item. “It’s basically football for young boys and it’s a great program here to get the kids involved in sports.”
It was noted that the support for such programs in the county is part of resources offered each year by the commission, and that awarded grants were considered for programs which requested funding.
A motion for consideration of the youth football grants was supported and the item was passed during Tuesday’s session of the Raleigh County Commission.
