CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – On June 7th, 2021, the West Virginia Legislature convened and passed HB101 which allocated $150,000,000 of surplus revenue funding to the Department of Highways for road repairs across the state.
This additional funding directed to the Department of Highways is focused on road construction, bridge repair, and other road-related projects in all fifty-five counties across West Virginia.
Boone County will receive roughly $1,647,200 of the $150,000,000 to pay for additional projects throughout the county. These projects include:
- Paving of Route 3 from the community of Orgas to the town of Sylvester- ($501,000)
- Paving of Route 85 between Madison and Uneeda- ($435,000)
- Drawdy Mountain Slip Repair Wall- ($211,200)
- Bentley Road Bridge in the Madison area- ($500,000)
Weighing in, Governor Jim Justice (R-WV) said, “This will absolutely really, really, really help us continue on the pathway we’ve been on, and that is to continue to do more and more to make our roads better and better for all of our residents, but in addition to all of our residents, it absolutely would drive more and more and more folks to come to West Virginia.”
HB101 passed (91-5) in the West Virginia House of Delegates, (29-0) in the West Virginia Senate, and was approved by Governor Justice.
