PARKERSBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man was arrested on Friday on a warrant issued out of Kanawha County for eight counts of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, along with additional charges.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, February 2, 2024, Wood County Deputies facilitated the arrest of Richard Starkey – 65 years old of Parkersburg, WV – for multiple counts of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender based on a Kanawha County warrant.
Authorities indicate that, as Starkey was being placed in handcuffs during the arrest, he advised that he had a jar of methamphetamine on his person. The controlled substance was located by law enforcement in the pocket of the subject, resulting in an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Following the arrest, Starkey was transported to the Wood County Holding Center where he was processed and placed pending arraignment.
