POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Huntington man was charged on Friday in relation to attempts to impersonate a certified police officer.
According to the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, on Friday, April 12, 2024, David E. Kitchen – 51 years old of Huntington, WV – pleaded guilty to the felony charge of “fraudulent schemes” in the Circuit Court of Mason County.
Kitchen has been charged with the forging police of certification records which were used to secure a position with the Town of New Haven’s Police Department.
These fraudulent documents were later discovered when Kitchen made an attempt at obtaining a position with a different police department.
As part of yhis plea, Kitchen agreed to pay restitution to the Town of New Haven in the amount of $4,950.38, the amount reflecting the amount which he was overpaid based on the fraudulent scheme.
Prosecutor Gaskins of the Lrosecutkng Attorney’s Office of Mason County issued thanks Chief D. Hardwick, NHPD, and Mayor Phil Serevicz for their assistance in brining the Defendant to justice.
Kitchen is scheduled to b return to court on May 20th at 1:00 for sentencing procedures.
