Have an idea how to make your community healthier?
The Center for Active WV, which works to provide an effective statewide physical activity framework that will promote sector input and collaboration, facilitate physical activity research among multidisciplinary teams, and guide state and local policy and practice, is currently taking applications for its Capacity Building Grant. The grant’s purpose is to increase physical activity across West Virginia.
The one-time grant ranges from $1,000 to $5,000. Focus areas include providing physical activity opportunities for youth in and out of school, increasing pedestrian and bike infrastructure and creating opportunities for physical activity referrals in healthcare partnerships.
Previous Capacity Grant Projects include:
- trail renovation
- walking path signage
- pump tracks/ bike playground for youth
- construction of connector trails
- installation of exercise stations along walking trails
- updated school gym equipment

Grant applications must be completed by October 1, 2021.
