HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Assistance and recovery work in the City of Huntington continues throughout areas affected by the rapid flooding which descended upon city locations over a week ago.
This entails the recruitment of various entities and the assessment and documentation of damage which has been incurred as a result of these events.
The City of Huntington announced that a team led by Dr. Jason Means with the West Virginia Emergency Management Division (WVEMD) will be working with the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) in assessment and evaluation of damage. It is said that these evaluations may entail direct interaction, with teams potentially being required to go door-to-door in some locations.
There has been a phone number – (304) 553-0927 – assigned to handle calls from those who may still need flood-relief assistance. A representative with the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) will be monitoring these calls full-time, and a case worker will immediately begin addressing the needs of those who call.
Upon calling and reaching the office’s voicemail, callers have been instructed to leave their name, phone number, full address, and nature of the call, which would be in reference to seeking assistance from the flooding which occurred May 6, 2022.
