White Sulpher Springs, WV- (LOOTPRESS) – Governor James C. Justice, II (R) has defeated Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango (D) to secure his 2nd term as Governor of West Virginia.
Justice has carried a high approval rating in 2020 for his handling of the COVID-19 epidemic. Justice’s administration inherited a deficit that approached half-a-billion dollars in 2017. Over the course of the following three years the Legislature and Governor corrected the deficit and enjoyed surpluses moving forward.
The Governor has championed causes that worked to reduce the harm of the Opioid epidemic, make training and education available to improve workforce readiness, and improve the business climate in West Virginia to make it attractive to modern industry.
Going forward into the next legislative session, it is expected that the Governor and Legislature will address many issues regarding the COVID-19 epidemic. While the Governor’s handling of the crisis has strong approval ratings, many are looking to the Governor and Legislature to return the State to some sense of normalcy while maintaining public safety.
