BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – It was announced Tuesday that a section of road on Oakhurst will be closed for the day.
The closure will take place due to water maintenance, and will affect the areas from the Parkway-Spring Garden intersection to Center Drive according to WV American Water.
The city asks that those traveling make use of an alternative route until maintenance is complete.
The City of Bluefield also offered an update Tuesday on the College Avenue Phase II Sewer project – more on that here – noting that work could possibly begin on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.
This work would entail saw cutting and other preparatory measures to begin the digging process.
Due to the work being done, delays will occur throughout the College Avenue area during the week.
Digging is set to begin next week, at which point the street will be closed off entirely and detours will be provided.
The College Avenue project will see nearly 100 year old sewer pipe replaced with high strength PVC and ductile iron piping.
More than 600,000 gallons of sewer are transported each day to the Westside Sewage Treatment Plant through this system, which serves over 3,176 residential and business locations in the Bluefield area.
