HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Huntington has announced details pertaining to this year’s Fire Prevention Parade.
The annual parade event is set to take place in downtown Huntington on Monday, October 9, 2023, and will begin at 7:00pm.
Traffic accommodations will be made throughout the area in anticipation of the event. No parking will be permitted between the hours of 5:00pm and 10:00pm on 4th Avenue between 7th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard on the day of the parade.
4th Avenue between 7th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard will also be closed from 5:00pm to no later than 10:00pm.
Participants in the parade will be asked to line up beginning at 5:45 pm between 12th Street and Hal Greer Boulevard, and the parade will begin at 7 p.m. at 12th Street and 4th Avenue and will then proceed west on 4th Avenue to 8th Street.
The theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Parade is “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.”
Parade participants will be prohibited from throwing candy as a safety precaution. A representative for each parade participant will be allowed to walk along the sides of the street and hand out candy to children in attendance, however.
