CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joshua T. Thompson has filed to run for Circuit Judge in the 12th Judicial Circuit representing Wyoming County and McDowell County.
Thompson filed on Tuesday at Secretary of State, Mac Warner’s Office in Charleston. He will be on the ballot vying for the seat on the 12th Judicial Circuit in District 2, serving Wyoming County.
“McDowell and Wyoming Counties,
My name is Joshua T. Thompson and I am asking for your support to be the Circuit Judge for Wyoming County in the newly created 12th Judicial Circuit.
Serving as Circuit Judge has always been my dream. I had no intentions of running this election cycle because Wyoming County was in good hands with esteemed Circuit Judge Mike Cochrane. However, his recent medical emergency and incapacitation has affected our entire community. The people of Wyoming County must be served by their Circuit Court and I believe I am the right person to step in and assure that they are.
I have experience in all areas of jurisdiction in Circuit Court. I am an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Raleigh County where I handle 25% of all felony cases. I also own my own law firm, Thompson & Spolarich, PLLC, with Oceana native Morgan Spolarich. Additionally, I serve as attorney for the Towns of Kimball and Pineville, the City of Gary, and the McDowell County Economic Development Authority.
I have been appointed or elected to leadership positions in the Board of Directors of: The West Virginia State Bar, The Wyoming County Economic Development Authority, and West Virginia Crimestoppers.
I am also active in my community. I am a member of Cook Memorial Baptist Church where I serve on the Constitution Committee. I am the President of Wyoming East Youth Football, and Vice President of Pineville Little League.
I say all of this, to show that my professional experience, my current leadership positions, and my community involvement make me the best candidate to represent both McDowell and Wyoming Counties as Circuit Judge. I humbly ask for your vote on May 14, 2024.
Thank you,
Josh”
