BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Beckley Area Foundation on Wednesday announced a donation opportunity made possible by the testamentary gift of Dr. Thomas Jarrett.
Beckley Area Foundation has indicated that $250,000 of matching dollars have been made available, an opportunity which could be of particular interest to individuals or organizations establishing a new fund or giving to an endowed fund already in existence.
The testamentary gift was left to Beckley Area Foundation in the amount of $250,000, provided that Beckley Area Foundation matches the amount within two years from the date of his passing, which occurred on October 22, 2023.
Qualifying donations will be matched with the funds until such a time as funds are exhausted. Matching dollars will be added into the appropriate funds after October 22, 2025, or at the point the matching opportunity has been exhausted to the fullest extent.
Eligible donations include any newly established funds, any donation of at least $2,500 to an existing endowed fund, any donation to the Thomas W. Jarrett Memorial Fund, any donation to the Buckner Woodford Clay III Memorial Fund, and any donation to an endowed unrestricted fund.
All qualifying donations will see a dollar-for-dollar match. The minimum amount required to establish a named, unrestricted fund is $1,250, while other types of funds will require a minimum of $2,500.
Only the establishing donation for a fund will see a match unless it one of the other eligibility requirements are also met.
Pass-through gifts are not eligible to be matched, nor are bequests.
The maximum amount eligible to be matched is $50,000.
