BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley Garbage Disposal has announced a nearly 7% rate increase for residential customers, a change which will purportedly take effect at the onset of the new year.
Notice was recently provided by Beckley Garbage Disposal of increased residential and negotiated commercial tariff rates as calculated by the Public Service Commission in M.C. General Order No. 64.
The residential base rate of $26.30, active at the time of writing, will jump by 6.94% – or $1.82 – to a proposed $28.12. The present rate of $16.69 for Bulky Goods pickup for non-subscribers will see the same 6.94% increase, bringing the rate3 to $17.85, a $1.16 increase.
Notice provided by Beckley Garbage Disposal indicates that, “an annual rate increase shall be permitted without the filing of an application for approval by the Public Service Commission provided that notice is given to customers and the increase is not greater than the preceding September year over year increase in the Garbage and Trash Collection Index.”
Beckley Garbage Disposal Inc. states that the rate increase will go into effect on January 1, 2024.
The increase will reportedly be implemented pursuant to West Virginia Code §24A-5-2a, and follows similar notice provided in just September of proposed rates which would see residential customers incur a 21% to rate increase to $27.20 – a $4.72 increase from the previously established $22.48. Residential on-call customers would likewise see their previous rate of $7.01 raised to $10.00, a 42.65% increase totaling $2.99 in September’s proposition.
Additionally, previously non-existent fees for the restoration of terminated service were proposed for introduction at $5.00 for those wishing to restore service after cancelling.
