BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A routine traffic stop in Beckley led to the seizure of multiple types of illegal drugs, two handguns and more than $3,000 in cash, according to the Beckley Police Department.
Captain Morgan Bragg said Officer Amick was conducting routine patrol in the Springdale Avenue area when he observed a Land Rover SUV with an expired registration. After initiating a traffic stop, Officer Amick made contact with the driver and passengers.
Based on his interaction with the vehicle’s occupants, Officer Amick deployed his K-9 partner, Luna, to conduct a free-air sniff around the vehicle. Luna alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting officers to search the SUV.
According to police, the search resulted in the discovery of multiple controlled substances in the possession of rear passenger Jaylon Breckenridge. Officers reported seizing approximately 72.57 grams of marijuana, 14.85 grams of methamphetamine, 21.97 grams of powdered cocaine, 15.05 grams of crack cocaine, 12.77 grams of fentanyl, 20.27 grams of MDMA, four oxycodone pills and 21.5 dextroamphetamine pills.
Police also recovered two handguns and more than $3,000 in U.S. currency.
Breckenridge has been charged with multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He was transported to Southern Regional Jail, where he is being held on a $75,000 bond.
