(LOOTPRESS) – Shoppers in several eastern states will see familiar storefronts spring back to life this month as Big Lots! begins reopening under new ownership.
Variety Wholesalers, a North Carolina-based discount retail chain, is behind the revival, following its acquisition of 219 Big Lots! stores earlier this year.
The first wave of nine store openings will roll out Thursday, April 10, in six states: Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. More stores will open in waves through May and June.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Big Lots! brand back to life by offering more deals than ever, lots of famous brands and a new apparel department for the entire family,” said Lisa Seigies, president and CEO of Variety Wholesalers.
“We’re opening stores quickly so we can serve the community. We know the stores won’t be perfect to start, but each week we’ll add more new products as we build towards the grand opening celebration in the fall. Every time a customer visits Big Lots! we want them to find something new and exciting!”
Locations opening April 10 include:
- Mount Sterling, KY – 1342 Indian Mound Dr
- Metairie, LA – 755 Veterans Memorial Blvd
- Tupelo, MS – 2605 W Main St
- Pearl, MS – 5778 Hwy 80 E
- Asheboro, NC – 1432 E Dixie Dr
- Clarksville, TN – 1041 S Riverside Dr
- Gallatin, TN – 744 Nashville Pike
- Dickson, TN – 220 Dickson Plaza Dr
- Roanoke, VA – 2911 Hershberger Rd NW
Variety Wholesalers says customers can expect remodeled stores stocked with closeout deals, home goods, electronics, and apparel for the whole family.
The next wave of store reopenings—roughly 55 locations—is set for May 1, with more to follow through early summer. A company-wide grand opening celebration is planned for the fall.
The move marks a major expansion for Variety Wholesalers, which already operates brands like Roses, Roses Express, and Maxway.
The company plans to reopen stores across numerous states, including North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
