Charleston – No. 3 Tucker County outscored No. 2 Tug Valley 17-9 in the second quarter and never relinquished the lead, defeating the Panthers 71-58 Friday morning in the Class A semifinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
With the win Tucker County advances to the Class A title game where it will face the winner of James Monroe-Clay Battelle on Saturday at 12:30.
Tucker used an efficient shooting day to key the win, connecting on 55 percent of its shots while Tug converted at a 38 percent clip.
Trevan Bonner led the Mountain Lions in the win with 22 points while Ashton Lycliter netted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Buddy Marcum led Tug with 13 points in the loss.
