LANSING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bridge Day is almost here and officials with the New River Gorge National Park & Preserve are reminding visitors of park changes this weekend due to the event.
The New River Gorge National Park and Preserve says that it is proud to help support Fayette County’s largest single-day festival, Bridge Day, this Saturday, October 21, 2023.
There will be multiple changes within the park during the weekend of the festival.
On Friday, October 20th at 5:30 PM the Canyon Rim Visitor Center Parking Lot will close. All private vehicles should be moved out of the area by 5:30 PM.
The Burnwood Trail and site will be closed starting Thursday, October, 19 at 2:00 PM and will not be accessible again until Sunday, October 22.
Fayette Station Road will be closed to private vehicles.
The Bridge Day Commission works with the National Park Service and other law enforcement agencies in the area in regard to Fayette Station and Fayette Station Road closures.
That area will not be accessible beginning on Friday, October 20 after 5:30 PM through Saturday, October 15 at 5 PM.

Private boaters can use Fayette Station as a take-out after 5 PM on Saturday, October 21st if arrangements are made for shuttling without leaving a car the night prior, according to park officials.
Setting shuttles and leaving cars overnight will not be permitted during Bridge Day. Teays Landing will also not be accessible for the duration of Bridge Day.
The National Park Service says that its goal is to provide park visitors with a safe and enjoyable experience, and at the same time safeguard the natural and cultural resources of this national treasure.
According to park officials, over forty National Park Service employees work very long days before, during, and after Bridge Day to ensure all visitors, BASE jumpers, media, and other agency employees have a safe and memorable day.
Park rangers are on the river below the bridge, on the bridge, at the landing zone at Fayette Station, in the visitor centers and major overlooks, and behind the scenes providing administrative and organizational support.
