CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) has announced its upcoming Mini Medical School: Stroke 101 event, a free community event to educate members of the public the leading cause of disability in the United States.
The free community event, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the CAMC Center for Learning and Academic Medicine located at 3044 Chesterfield Avenue in Charleston, West Virginia.
From 5:30pm to 6:00pm the event will offer refreshments and displays, including information from the CAMC Foundation, CAMC Volunteer Services, the Cancer Center Resource Center, CAMC Telemedicine, and social workers who will be available on site to offer assistance with advanced medical directives.
The event program will run from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and will offer the opportunity for attendees to participate in a Question & Answer session.
CAMC General Hospital, in 2024, was the recipient of the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke GoldPlus quality achievement award. The award recognizes organizations for their commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment in accordance with nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.
This approach ultimately leads to a greater number of lives saved as well as reduced disability. CAMC General Hospital was also the recipient of the American Heart Association’s Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite award.
