WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Carol Miller has won the Republican nomination for the U.S. House in West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, defeating Wyoming County business owner Larry Jackson in Tuesday’s primary election.
Miller, who has represented southern West Virginia in Congress since 2019, secured the GOP nomination after facing Jackson in the Republican primary.
Jackson, a business owner from Wyoming County, challenged the incumbent congresswoman during the race.
Before serving in Congress, Miller represented Cabell County in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 until 2018.
She is also known for operating a family automobile dealership business and has been a longtime figure in Republican politics across the state.
West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District covers much of the southern portion of the state. Miller will now move on to the general election in November as Republicans seek to retain the seat.
The Associated Press called the race Tuesday night.
