GLEN DANIEL, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Raleigh County man is under investigation after a child called 911 reporting an unconscious adult, leading deputies to discover drugs and hazardous conditions inside the home.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 10:26 p.m. on April 17, 2026, at a residence on Young Lane. A small child placed the emergency call after finding their father unresponsive on the couch.
When deputies and EMS arrived, they found Christopher Charles Young inside the home, lethargic and appearing to be under the influence. Emergency responders said Young initially declined medical treatment despite concerns about his condition.
Deputies reported Young admitted to drinking alcohol, using a THC vape cartridge, and taking Suboxone earlier in the day. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.078, though officers noted difficulty completing the test.
Inside the home, deputies described troubling living conditions. Investigators say an uncapped syringe containing an unknown substance was found on the kitchen floor within reach of the children, along with drug-related items left out in the open.
Authorities say the children were present in the home at the time and were later released into the care of relatives who arrived on scene.
Despite repeated efforts by EMS and deputies, Young refused to be transported to the hospital.
Officials say the situation posed a serious risk to the children due to the presence of narcotics and unsafe conditions. A referral was made to Child Protective Services, and the case remains under investigation.
