The Lootpress Player of the Week Award sponsored by Mid-State Ford, Little General, Bodyworks and The Law Offices of Brandon Steele, has returned for the second year.
Below are the candidates for the 11th week of the boys basketball season. Voting will close Thursday, March 3 at 11:59 P.M. The fan vote will be used in the event of a tie. There are also changes to the Player of the Week voting pertaining to the top overall vote getter that you can read about here.
If the the top vote getter has already won a community choice poll, the next leading vote getter who has not won will be named that week’s community choice winner.

- Jalen Cook, Liberty – Cooked scored 26 points early in the week in an 82-48 victory over Sherman.
- Josh Burks, James Monroe – Burks averaged 14.5 points per game for the Mavericks who closed out the regular season with a pair of wins.
- Chase Hancock, Princeton – Hancock poured in 30 as the Tigers beat Bluefield at the Brushfork Armory.
- Caleb Fuller, Bluefield – Fuller reached the 20-point threshold twice with outputs of 26 and 22 points while sprinkling in a 12-point performance against PikeView.
- Bryar Bailes, Nicholas County – Bailes scored in doubles figures in all there of the Grizzlies’ games this week with a high of 17.
- Matt Light, Midland Trail – Light averaged 17.5 points per game for the Patriots, helping them pick up a pair of wins ahead of sectionals.
- Gabe Patton, Greenbrier East – Patton scored 19 points for the Spartans as they won in blowout fashion against Bluefield.
- Ethan Vargo-Thomas, Oak Hill – Vargo-Thomas averaged 20 points per game in helping the Red Devils to a 1-1 record.
- Cyrus Goodson, Independence – Goodson averaged 21 points per game with an explosive 30-point performance as the Patriots picked up a pair of wins this week.
- Brandan Isaac, Summers County – Isaac averaged 11.5 points per game this week with 19 in a win over Montcalm.
- Ammar Maxwell, Shady Spring – Maxwell poured in 35 points against Huntington, helping Shady celebrate a victory on Senior Night.
