WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Delegate Christopher Toney, R-Raleigh, recently announced a $8,000 grant for the Oceana Middle School and a $4,000 grant for Road Branch Elementary/Middle.
Toney was able to secure the funds through the Local Economic Development Assistance program, which is funded through legislative appropriation and reserved to assist West Virginia communities. The funds for Oceana Middle will be utilized for a new stage curtain and monogrammed valence.
“This will be a wonderful upgrade for our children that will benefit the entire community,” Toney said. “This will give the auditorium at Oceana Middle a much needed renovation along with the addition of a new score board for Road Branch Elementary/Middle, and I’m honored to have the privilege to request and secure this extra funding.
“Our children deserve all we can give them, and I will always pursue every opportunity I have to help our region.”
Toney serves as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Education and was first elected to the Legislature in 2018. He recently presented a check to members of the Wyoming County Board of Education at Oceana Middle School.
“Wyoming County Schools is grateful for the support that Delegate Toney has worked to secure for Oceana Middle and Road Branch Elementary/Middle. These funds will help provide great opportunities and support for each school and their community. We appreciate Delegate Toney for thinking of us and supporting the projects of a new stage curtain and a scoreboard. His support through these projects are greatly appreciated,” said Wyoming County Assistant Superintendent Jonathan Henry.”
