Dorothy Marie Plumley Bennett of Pear/Abraham, West Virginia passed away Thursday April 18th, 2024 at her home in New Salem, West Virginia. Her mission in life was to be a witness for her Lord and Savior to everyone she met. She was a member of Pluto Missionary Baptist Church for many years before coming home to attend New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.
Born June 19, 1938, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Marion Edward Plumley, and Dora Francis Kincaid Plumley. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years John Bennett; sisters Rosie Plumley, Doleta (Tootsie) Plumley, Geraldine Plumley; brothers Denvil Plumley; Clinton Plumley, and son Stevie Bennett.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Lenzie (Juanita) Bennett, Lonnie (Carolyn) Bennett, Dora (Jimmy) Ballengee, whom she lived with for thirteen years, Kim (Ronnie) Plumley; beloved sisters Anna Pearl Plumley, and Maxine Adkins, and brothers Mervil Plumley, and Ernie Plumley; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild on the way. All whom she loved and prayed for dearly.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2 O’ Clock PM with Pastor Randy Farley officiating. The family will accept visitors and friends beginning at 12:30PM. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
