BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley ARH Hospital is excited to welcome board-certified interventional gastroenterologist S. Momin Shah-Khan, MD, to its team.
The Beckley native works alongside his brother Dr. Sardar “Musa” Shah-Khan, who also serves as an interventional gastroenterologist with ARH Gastroenterology.
“It is truly special to have someone with such expertise and dedication to patient care returning to serve the community they know so well,” said Beckley ARH CEO Todd Howell. “We know Dr. Shah-Khan will make a positive impact on the health of our community, and we are eager to support him in his new role.”
Shah-Khan, a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, received his undergraduate and medical degrees from West Virginia University. Following his residency in general gastroenterology at WVU, he completed advanced interventional gastroenterology training at Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey.
In his ARH practice, Shah-Khan will offer a variety of general and advanced care including regular EGDs and colonoscopy screenings; endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for the minimally invasive removal of precancerous polyps from the GI tract; endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to remove large masses from the GI tract; endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to treat problems in the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts; and endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), a non-surgical, incision-free outpatient weight loss procedure through which the size of a patient’s stomach is shrunk.
Shah-Khan said it was always his goal to return to his hometown to work with his brother.
“All of our family is in Beckley, so it was always important to us to come home and help take care of our community by providing the highest level of care possible,” he said, adding the goal also always included working for ARH.
“ARH has always been my family’s community hospital. The doctors and staff have taken care of my family any time they’ve ever needed it so I’m very excited to be here.”
