COVINGTON, VA (LOOTPRESS) – A red Ford Ranger crashed into the front of the Exxon store on Durant Road late Monday morning, prompting a response from the Covington, VA Division of Police.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 11:43 a.m. on May 5.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle had collided with the building’s front entrance.
The driver, identified as Jacob Lee Elmore of Alleghany County, appeared disoriented and reportedly smelled of marijuana, police said.
Officers administered field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested Elmore on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs (DUID).
Elmore was booked at the Alleghany Regional Jail and is awaiting a bond hearing.
Authorities confirmed there were no injuries in the crash.
