ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man faces a felony charge along with several misdemeanor charges following an early November traffic incident.
As indicated by reports from Corporal S.D. Kyle of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday, November 5, 2022, authorities were investigating the scene of a motor vehicle accident near the entrance of Poe Run Rd on US 33.
While on the scene with the Elkins Fire Department and Randolph County EMS, Cpl. Kyle observed a Ford pickup truck pass through the scene at a high rate of speed.
Departing the scene to pursue the driver, Cpl. Kyle conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle which exhibited an expired registration of 1/2022.
The driver, identified as Steven Fravel, advised that the truck was not legal, that there was no insurance on it, and that he in fact had no valid drivers license.
A check through 911 confirmed that Fravel’s West Virginia drivers license had been revoked for DUI, and several other prior DUI convictions were also revealed.
These include convictions for Driving Revoked for DUI on 10/6/1998, 2/1/2008, 6/23/2009, and Driving Revoked DUI 3rd Offense on 1/11/2022.
Fravel was charged with Felony Driving Revoked for DUI 3rd Offense, as well as misdemeanor charges of Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicles, No Insurance, Expired Registration, and Expired MVI.
The defendant was arrested and transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
