VALLEY BEND, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A pickup truck became lodged in a roadside drainage culvert Thursday after a driver suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel of their vehicle.
According to reports from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy S.R. Davis responded to the scene of a single-car motor vehicle accident on Thursday, September 8, 2022 on Route 219.
A blue pickup truck could be observed lodged in a drainage culvert on the scene.
The subsequent investigation and driver interaction revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving along route 219 due to a “blackout” brought about by a medical emergency.
Upon loss of control by the driver, the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, entering a drainage culvert, and traveling approximately 144 feet before coming to a rest in the culvert.
The vehicle, as well as the culvert itself, along with roadside fencing, received substantial damage as a result of the incident.
The driver was transported to Davis Medical Center by Randolph County Emergency Service for evaluation and treatment.
Assistance on the scene was also provided by the Randolph County Fire Department and Randolph County EMS services.
