FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Anthony Ciliberti, Jr., Prosecuting Attorney, announces that on January 10, 2022, William Cole McCallister, age 25 of Smithers, West Virginia, was sentenced by Judge Paul M. Blake, Jr., to five to twenty-five years in prison for the felony crime of first-degree sexual abuse of a child under the age of twelve. McCallister pled guilty to this charge on October 29, 2021. McCallister was further sentenced to serve 40 years of extended supervised release. A violation of the terms of his supervised release could result the forty-year period of supervised release being changed to a forty-year prison sentence.Â
On April 29, 2020, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau investigated a call regarding the alleged sexual molestation of a 4-year-old female child that had occurred in Smithers, West Virginia. During an interview with the child at the Just for Kids Child Advocacy Center, the child reported visiting her neighbor, William Cole McCallister, to see a pet frog. While in the Defendant’s apartment, the child revealed that Mr. McCallister had inappropriately touched her genital area and that he had further taken a nude photograph of her with a cellular telephone.Â
These crimes were investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau. Support services for the victim were provided by the Just for Kids Child Advocacy Center. The case was prosecuted by Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti, Jr.Â
