NITRO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Construction work on the highly anticipated I-64 St. Albans-Nitro bridge project encountered a brief moment of concern on Thursday afternoon as a motor powering the pile driver caught fire.
The pile driver, responsible for firmly embedding steel supports into the ground on the eastern side of the bridge, was halted due to the incident.
Prompt response from the fire departments of Nitro and Teays Valley ensured that the fire was swiftly extinguished, preventing any further damage.
With their swift actions, the fire was effectively extinguished, mitigating potential risks and minimizing disruptions to the project.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Despite the temporary interruption, the incident did not have any adverse effects on the overall progress of the construction project.
Interstate traffic flow and other crucial aspects of the operation remained unaffected.
