CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Jim Justice announced this week that he has signed off on a proclamation declaring May, 2022 National Water Safety Month in the state of West Virginia.
The proclamation recognizes the vital role of swimming and aquatic-related activities as they pertain to physical and mental health and the enhancement of quality of life.
Safety is understandably a key issue in the proclamation, which weeks to encourage understanding of the essential role of water safety education in the prevention of drownings and injuries related to recreational water activities.
Furthermore, the understanding of the significance of communication of water safety rules and water safety programs to families and individuals of all ages – including waterpark visitors, guests at public facilities, and private pool owners – is emphasized.
The proclamation also seeks to make West Virginia citizens aware of contributions made by the recreational water industry, as represented by the entities and organizations who partook in the establishment of the National Water Safety Month Coalition in the development of safe aquatic programs, swimming facilities, home spas and pools, and related activities which provide healthy and safe areas in which to recreate, grow, and learn, build self-esteem, confidence, and sense of self-worth, which contributes to the overall quality of life throughout West Virginia communities.
