CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Dan Greear will be sworn in as a judge on the Intermediate
Court of Appeals of West Virginia (ICA) in a ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 6, in
the Supreme Court Courtroom according to an announcement.
Greear is a lifelong Kanawha County resident. He graduated from South Charleston High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in 1989, and received his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law in 1992.
In 2021, Governor Jim Justice appointed Greear to one of the three seats on the newly-created ICA, which will become operational on July 1, 2022. Governor Justice previously appointed him to the circuit court bench in Kanawha County in July 2018 to fill a vacancy. He served until November of that year.
At the time of his appointment to the ICA, Mr. Greear was chief counsel for the West Virginia House of Delegates. He previously served three years as House Chief of Staff.
He received the 2021 Legislative Staff Achievement Award from the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Leadership Staff Professional Association.
Mr. Greear served in the House of Delegates representing Kanawha County from 1995 to
1996.
He was the chief counsel for the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office from 2013 to
2014. Prior to that, Mr. Greear was Managing Member of KKB, LLC, focusing on general civil litigation.
Mr. Greear has been a football official with the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission since 1999. He is a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Spring Hill Baptist Church in South Charleston.
Mr. Greear and his wife, Amy, have two sons and live in Kanawha County.
