GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Greenbrier County Health Department is investigating two confirmed cases of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough.
According to the health department, pertussis is spread through face-to-face contact with a person who has the disease.
Health officials said the illness typically begins with symptoms similar to the common cold before progressing to a cough that may be followed by a high-pitched “whoop” sound and vomiting after coughing.
Anyone experiencing these symptoms is encouraged to consult their healthcare provider.
