CALDWELL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is facing numerous charges out of Greenbrier County.
According to court documents, on February 13, 2020, deputies responded to a breaking and entering report at Bogg’s junkyard in Caldwell. Dispatchers advised off-duty police officers were on the property to hunt coyotes when they observed two males standing around a junked vehicle. The deputies noticed that something looked to be on fire, and both individuals fled. The Lewisburg Fire Department was called to extinguish the car fire.
The off-duty officer’s stated that one of the individuals resembled Jeremiah Holliday of Smoot, WV, based on prior criminal investigations. Upon further investigation, two sets of mechanical style gloves and two book bags containing catalytic converts had been removed from vehicles. They appeared to have been tampered with, causing the fire. A cutting torch close to the vehicle was located as well.
Holliday was found on a trail and had multiple scratch marks and direct from head to toe as if he scaled the mountainside to avoid being caught.
Holliday was placed under arrest at that time and transported back to the Lewisburg office for processing. The second suspect, Lorne Atkins, was the driver of the car.
Warrants will be obtained for Atkins.
Holliday is charged with fourth-degree arson, destruction of property, tampering with a vehicle.
He is being held on a 5,000 dollar bond.
