POCAHONTAS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A section of the Greenbrier River Trail is closed to all users between Seebert and Buckeye as bridge re-decking work continues.
According to the Greenbrier River Trail and the Pocahontas County Homeland Security & Emergency Management, the closure affects the trail from Seebert Road (Milepost 45.77) to Buckeye (Milepost 52.18).
Officials said the closure is total and absolute and is necessary to allow crews to safely complete bridge re-decking work.
During the closure, all public access is prohibited within the affected section, including:
- Hiking, walking and running
- Bicycling of all types
- Horseback riding
Officials are urging the public to stay out of the closed area, warning that entering the work zone puts both visitors and construction crews at risk. Trail users are asked to respect all barriers and plan alternate routes until the project is complete.
No reopening date has been announced.
