LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday that it is currently seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Sheriff.
The Department will be accepting applications for the Deputy Sheriff position until Monday, June 20, 2022 at 4:30pm.
A $5,000 sign on bonus will be awarded to West Virginia certified officers for the position, along with several benefits.
Among these are a starting salary of $41,400 to $42,600, retirement at age 50 after 20 years of service, civil service protection, State Deputy Sheriff’s Retirement System, paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
Applicants must be 18-45 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, be able to pass a physical fitness test and civil service test, undergo comprehensive background investigation, medical examination, psychological examination, and polygraph examination.
The Civil Service Written Exam can be taken at Greenbrier East High School on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00pm.
Testing dates offered for the physical agility exam include,
Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 9:00am
Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 9:00am
Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 9:00am
These exams will be available at the Greenbrier East High School Football Field in Fairlea, WV, and will require 18 pushups in one minute, 28 situps within one minute, and a 1.5 mile run within 14 minutes and 36 seconds.

Applicants must also complete an online application at www.personnel.wv.gov. Completion of online application is required for the Civil Service Exam.
