HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Bellepoint water mitigation project in Hinton is nearing completion, according to a recent update from contractor RDR Construction and project engineer E.L. Robinson.
Funded and supported by state and federal agencies, the $7 million project includes the installation of new sewage lines, customer hookups, replacement of old grinder stations, and a new primary pump station.
Officials say these improvements were badly needed to upgrade the city’s infrastructure.
In addition to improving sewage services, the project also addresses stormwater runoff.
By tventing stormwater directly into nearby rivers instead of the sanitation system, the city expects to reduce the amount of water treated at the Brooks plant.
Contractors estimate that all underground elements — except two grinding stations — will be installed within the next three weeks.
About 20 customers in the Bellepoint area are still awaiting hookup to the new system, which is expected to be completed within four weeks.
After underground infrastructure work is finished, cleanup efforts will begin, including yard and road preparations. Paving will be the final stage of the project.
RDR Construction expects the entire project, including the paving of Greenbrier Drive, to be completed within the next two months.
