SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Senior citizens throughout Raleigh and Wyoming County have been invited to join the folks at Hope in the Mountains for a monthly event, Seniors at the Center.
Set to take place every third Thursday at The Hope Center, located at 410 W. Main St., Sophia, WV, from 11:00am to 2:00pm, Seniors at the Center is hosted by Hope in the Mountains, a non-profit, community-based project with services located in The Hope Center.
Seniors at the Center will be held this Thursday, January 18, 2024, and will offer fun activities in which for senior citizens to participate, along with a free lunch. The program will also provide ample opportunity for seniors throughout the county to socialize and fellowship with other citizens.
Formed as an ecumenical mission project of the Southern District of the West Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church, Hope in the Mountains was established as a means of extending hope, strength, and support to children, families, youth, and seniors throughout the Sophia and Winding Gulf area, as well as the greater Raleigh and Wyoming County regions.
The Hope Center also serves as the location for the Raleigh County Family Support Center’s Playgroup, held every Wednesday at the Hope Center from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Non-school age children and family members are encouraged to join on Wednesdays for a book, snack, and craft activity.
