HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – “The Huntington Sanitary Board will welcome members of the public at two information sessions on Tuesday, October 3. The public information sessions are scheduled for noon-2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at the Phil Cline Family YMCA, 917 9th St.
Those who attend will learn more about the permitting process, wastewater treatment process and safety measures implemented in connection with water sourced from East Palestine, Ohio.
‘The members of the Sanitary Board wanted to be sure that every single citizen has the opportunity to learn more about the health and safety measures being taken,’ said Mayor Steve Williams, who also serves as chairman of the Huntington Sanitary Board.
‘I hope people will take the opportunity to ask questions directly of the Sanitary Board team.’
The Huntington Sanitary Board is in the process of reviewing a permit application from Valicor, a local company that specializes in recycling wastewater. Valicor is one of the few operations in the country capable of processing non-hazardous wastewater from the Norfolk Southern derailment site.
‘Valicor is a longtime industrial customer of the Sanitary Board, and we have worked closely with its leadership to ensure that the health and safety of the public is the driving force behind every decision,’ said Brian Bracey, executive director of the Huntington Water Quality Board that oversees the Huntington Sanitary Board.
Members of the public will be able to ask questions of the Huntington Sanitary Board’s leadership and representatives from Valicor during the public information sessions.
Frequently asked questions about the project are available on the Sanitary Board website, www.huntingtonsb.com, and on the Huntington Sanitary Board Facebook page. Questions about the project can be submitted to: pretreatment@huntingtonsb.com.”
