SISSONVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An impaired driving incident late Monday night has led to charges against a Kanawha County man.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Monday, March 20, 2023, at just before 11:00pm, a vehicle crashed into a residence in the 1400 block of Wolf Pen Drive in Sissonville.
Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputy C.D. Moyers responded to the scene where he found a red GMC Sierra pickup truck which, prior to the crash, had been traveling south on Wolf Pen Drive.
The truck reportedly left the right side of the roadway before driving through a residential fence, continuing through the front porch, and crashing into the side of the residence. The vehicle crashed through the bedroom of a juvenile and caused extensive damage, though the juvenile and other residents of the home were reportedly unharmed during the incident.
The driver of the vehicle – identified as Franklin Stalnaker, 59 years old of the Wolf Pen Drive area – was approximately 1.5 miles from home at the time of the crash. Stalnaker had to be extricated from his vehicle by members of the Sissonville Fire Department before being transported to CAMC General Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Sufficient evidence was found by deputies to determine that Stalnaker had been too impaired to operate a motor vehicle safely at the time of the accident. As such, the driver was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence, and would incur additional charges following refusal to cooperate during lawfully required booking procedures.
Stalnaker is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail and is awaiting arraignment by a Kanawha County Magistrate.
