WYOMING COUNTY, W.Va. — A woman was arrested after a police K-9 allegedly detected narcotics on a four-wheeler carrying several types of suspected drugs in Wyoming County.
According to a criminal complaint, a Wyoming County sheriff’s deputy was conducting surveillance at a camper described as a known drug dwelling in the Clear Fork area on Sunday, August 16.
The deputy reportedly observed Dollie Schempp and Crystal Schempp repeatedly entering and exiting the camper and walking between the property, a minivan and a red four-wheeler.
Police later followed the four-wheeler onto County Route 971. The deputy reported that it did not have visible registration, traveled near the middle of the lane and made a turn without signaling.
During the stop, K-9 Cain conducted an open-air sniff and allegedly alerted to the odor of narcotics on the four-wheeler.
As Schempp stepped off the vehicle, police said a small pink bag bearing the name “Dottie” fell from her. Inside, officers allegedly discovered substances believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl.
A subsequent search of Schempp allegedly uncovered additional suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with pills identified as pregabalin, acetaminophen with codeine, diazepam and alprazolam. Police also reported finding suspected crack cocaine.
Another bag located near where Schempp had been seated allegedly contained additional suspected crack cocaine. Officers also found pieces of aluminum foil and a bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash inside the four-wheeler’s front toolbox.
Both Schempps were taken into custody.
The substances were described as suspected drugs in the complaint. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Schempp is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
