LOGAN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Logan County student has reportedly died after being struck by a vehicle while walking to the bus stop for school on Friday morning.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, on September 8, 2023 at approximately 6:50 am, Corporal J.A. Lyall and Deputy H.S. Workman of the LCSD received reports of a juvenile being struck by a vehicle in the area of West Logan.
Upon the arrival of Deputies at the scene, responding officers observed a male juvenile deceased in the roadway. Upon speaking with a witness to the incident, it was determined that the juvenile on the roadway had been en route to his bus stop to be transported to school.
Reports indicate that the vehicle involved had been turning onto 11″ Street from Route 10 at the time of the accident. The driver involved stated that they had been to see the juvenile in the roadway at the time, and as a result, struck the male juvenile with their vehicle.
The juvenile was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver involved was transported to Boone Memorial Hospital to receive medical treatment.
The incident remains under investigation by authorities, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
