CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia on Friday authorized the merger of two Logan County public service districts, but made it contingent on the transfer of certain outstanding bonds. The merger includes both water and sewer customers.
The Logan County Commission asked the PSC to allow Buffalo Creek Public Service District to be merged into Logan County Public Service District, which the Commission OK’d as long as bonds owed by Buffalo Creek are transferred to Logan County PSD.
Buffalo Creek serves 1,495 water and 1,830 wastewater customers. All its board member resigned in February and Logan County PSD, which is much larger, has been operating the system since.
Logan County PSD said it will pay the expenses of the merger and no additional funding will be required.
The outstanding bonds in question are owed by Buffalo Creek sewer to the West Virginia Water Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The bondholders must approve transfer of the bonds.
