GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) -A domestic disturbance in Greenbrier County has led to assault allegations against a Lewisburg man after a confrontation with his mother turned physical.
West Virginia State Police were dispatched around 1 p.m. Tuesday to a residence on Shoestring Trail following a report of a domestic incident. According to the responding trooper, the victim reported that her son, Alex Crookshanks became aggressive after she opened the door while bringing in a package.
She told authorities the man struck her in the arm, causing her to drop the items she was carrying. The situation escalated in her bedroom when, after she refused to give him money, he allegedly hit her two more times in the arm and spit in her direction, though it did not make contact.
The victim stated that similar incidents have occurred before and expressed fear for her safety, telling the trooper it was “only a matter of time” before her son seriously harmed her. She also reported that he has previously threatened her with weapons and threatened to kill her. She added that her son struggles with serious drug issues and is in need of help.
Although the trooper did not observe visible injuries on the victim, a domestic violence information sheet and a lethality assessment were completed, with multiple high-risk indicators confirmed.
The accused was later located at another residence on Hinkle Road, where he admitted to a verbal altercation and said he slapped food out of his mother’s hands before leaving.
Based on the investigation, authorities believe the suspect intentionally made physical contact of an insulting or provocative nature, causing harm.
