FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Fayette County man has been arrested following a stalking complaint involving a county family court judge, with police alleging the man repeatedly drove near the judge’s home before making concerning statements about wanting to see the judge “catch karma.”
According to the West Virginia State Police, TFC T.D. Richardson was contacted by Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Anthony Ciliberti regarding a stalking complaint involving Fayette County Family Court Judge Matthew England.
The trooper contacted Judge England and scheduled a meeting to obtain a statement and additional information regarding allegations of stalking and harassment, as well as concerns for the judge’s personal safety.
According to the criminal complaint, Judge England told police that Larry Dickerson had driven past his residence on numerous occasions.
Family members who were at the residence also allegedly observed a gold-colored Ford passenger vehicle slowly driving around the home while the male driver appeared to be watching the property.
Police say the driver was later identified as Dickerson through motor vehicle registration records. The investigating trooper was also provided photographs of the vehicle as part of the investigation.
When asked why he believed Dickerson was repeatedly traveling around his residence, Judge England told police that Dickerson had been involved in a family court proceeding in 2018 over which England had presided.
According to the complaint, Dickerson apparently believed the final custody order in the case was not in his favor. Judge England also told police that Dickerson had previously mailed him a letter expressing dissatisfaction with both the judge and the Fayette County Family Court.
Police Question Suspect About Repeated Trips Near Judge’s Home
The investigating trooper later traveled to Dickerson’s residence and informed him of the reason for the visit.
According to the report, Dickerson was advised of his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with TFC Richardson and Trooper C.B. Bare without an attorney present.
When asked about where he had been frequently traveling and informed that the complaint involved a county official, police say Dickerson immediately began expressing strong dissatisfaction with the Fayette County court system and the Town of Fayetteville.
Dickerson allegedly told troopers he was “ashamed to be from here” and claimed that “the whole county is corrupt.”
The trooper then explained that Dickerson’s repeated travel near Judge England’s home was concerning because of the previous history between the two.
According to the criminal complaint, Dickerson said the reason he had been traveling near Judge England’s residence was to witness “karma” take place.
When asked to explain what he meant by “karma,” Dickerson allegedly referenced the death of another judge, telling police that Judge Hatcher was dead because “karma caught up to him.”
Dickerson also allegedly told troopers that a former attorney who had represented him during his child custody proceedings had died because of “karma” after failing to file court paperwork by a required deadline.
Police say Dickerson continued expressing his dissatisfaction with the Fayette County court system and several law enforcement agencies in the county.
When the trooper again asked Dickerson to clarify what he meant by “karma” in relation to Judge England, Dickerson allegedly said he hoped to witness the judge “catch karma.”
According to the complaint, Dickerson also told troopers that the Bible teaches people to “turn the other cheek” when struck, but said he “was not built like that.”
Based on the totality of the circumstances, police placed Dickerson under arrest. He was reportedly taken into custody without incident and transported to the West Virginia State Police Oak Hill Detachment for processing.
Police noted in the complaint that Dickerson does not live near Judge England’s residence and that his frequent travel through the area would not be considered normal travel associated with where he lives.
The incident occurred in Fayette County.
Dickerson is accused of stalking in connection with the investigation.
The charges are accusations, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
